Publisher's blue cloth, gilt lettered to the spines, dust jackets, the final two volumes signed by O'Brian to the title pages. Sunning to two of the jacket spines, a lovely set overall. The first work was published by Collins in 1969 with the succeeding works appearing at intervals over three decades. The earlier works are reprinted here with artwork uniformly designed by Geoff Hunt.

A magnificent large folding map of the country in the very early years after independence, with printed colour to differentiate the states, three inset maps to the upper right corner illustrating the isothermal lines, average rainfall and orographical features plus another three inset maps to the lower left illustrating densities of population, principal industries and the country's geographical situation in south Asia, another large inset to the centre of the lower edge features a map of the country's geology and its mineral deposits. Folds between original printed card covers. Covers slightly soiled with a little edge creasing, one repair on the verso of the map along a fold, else a remarkably well preserved map considering its size and it not being backed onto linen. The first edition was published the previous year.

Coloured folding map on linen with dissections, map dimensions 98 x 74 cm, overall 108 x 81 cm, to a scale of 50 miles to the inch. Inset maps of what is now western Pakistan and most of Burma to the lower corners. Creasing to the lower edge of the top row of dissections due to poor folding. Original gilt titled blue cloth covers with mild wear.

[n.p.], 1944.. Map dimensions c. 80 x 77 cm, overall dimensions 111 x 88 cm. Large folding colour printed map of Japan on a slightly conical projection (refereed to as Lamberts Conical Orthomorphic). Scales and keys to the lower margin. Mark to left margin, else in very good condition. A caption to the lower left corner reads: "Refer to this Map as: - Hind 1050 1/5 M Sheet 3 First Edition"

Two volumes. 4to. xvi, 236, (2); xx, 429, (3) pp. Publisher's blue cloth, gilt lettered to spines and upper boards, dust jackets. Two frontispieces (one in colour), numerous illustrations in the text and 152 plates (illustrations and maps, some two or more to a page) in total towards the end of each volume plus pockets to the rear of each volume containing two and one folding plans respectively. Just slight sunning to the jacket spines plus a little trivial wear, very good.

Wear with slight loss to the spine ends and upper corners of the jacket, else very good. The author's first published volume of short stories, his first novel ("A Nest of Simple Folk") appeared the following year.
