Chicago, IL: The Cuneo Press, Inc., 1962. 1st Edition . Hardcover. VG+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, red cloth boards with gilt design on spine. Exterior shows minor handling wear along with edge and corner bump/wear. The internal binding is good and text pages are tight. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no remainder marks. The only evidence of handwriting is on the front end page where there is faint residue of a price once penciled in the corner along with two small holes from a staple. Text pages are clean without issues. There is no reference to this being volume 21 other than the date of publication.

London: Ian Allan, 1966. 2nd Printing. Hardcover. VG-/Good+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with unclipped dust jacket. DJ shows scuffing and toning along with edge crimps and small tears. Green cloth boards underneath show spotting to the cloth, particularly along the bottom edge of both boards, the rear board has more than the front. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. There are no signatures or bookplates, no library markings. The front end page does show were price was once penciled in the corner and the front pastedown through the half title page has an indentation and marks showing were a paperclip once was. This clip held in two business cards for people at the Westinghouse Brake and Signal Co. LTD.. These cards are included with the book but the paperclip has been removed and the cards have been placed in a glassine envelope.

New York: Harper & Brothers, 1872. Hardcover. Fair. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, beveled all of green boards ornately decorated on front and spine. Exterior shows quite a bit as spotting and scuffing. Interior pages are toned due to age and foxing is present with the end pages being severe. A very lengthy gift inscription that goes from the front end page to the frontispiece (five pages) presenting this book on Christmas, 1872. The reason for the low condition grade is the rear end pages have been torn out. All text pages are present and last page present is 184.

Wheaton, IL: Van Kampen Press, 1950. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Poor. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket, signed by the author on the front end page. DJ's front flap is detached but present, which is the reason for the poor condition grade. Jacket also shows chipping and tears along the edges. Maroon cloth boards underneath are clean with only issue being some fading/rubbing along the edges. Internal binding is good and text pages are tight. No hinge issues, no bookplates, no library markings, nothing torn or loose. The book itself would grade higher but page 90/91 is quite darkened on the majority of the pages. This was presumably caused by something like a newspaper clipping being placed in here which reacted with the book paper. The remaining pages are clean.

London: Kegan Paul, Trench & Co., 1886. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fair. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original brown cloth boards with gilt to spine. Exterior shows edge and corner wear and rear board has large section blistered. The worst part of the exterior as the cloth on the spine as it is very fragile and very brittle, with numerous cracks in chips present. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues other than some minor pulling. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings. Several quadrants of pages are still uncut, mainly in the front end very back of book. Pages are toned due to age and foxing is present. Some pages show minor corner folds and others show small corner tears, likely caused by pages being not fully cut at the time of printing.

London: William Rider and Son, Limited, 1911. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, denim blue boards with gilt on front and spine. Interior shows only minor handling wear and toning, rear board has a few scuffs in spots, corners lightly bumped. Internal binding is good though the hinge at rear board is just starting to pull in spots. Text pages are toned due to age but secure, end pages have darkened due to reacting with the binders glue at the pastedowns. No signatures or personal bookplates, no handwriting, no library markings. Front pastedown contains the original bookstore label showing the book was first at the Oriental Esoteric Library out of Washington DC. An attractive copy strong VG, borderline VG+.

Philadelphia, PA: John Bioren, 1822. Hardcover. Good+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original 1822 publication which has an early 20th century rebinding. Exterior shows soiling with grease spot top of spine and on rear board, corners are softened and upper right corner of rear board has a soft spot about 1 inch across. Internal binding is good text pages are tight, no hinge issues. Pages are darkened with age and scattered foxing is present. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings or handwriting found. Some pages have indentations or creases and page 23 has a chip missing on the right side edge. This is outside of the text area. This is the original 1822 publication, not a twentieth century reprint. Please note: this is volume 6 only as each volume was published a different year.

Philadelphia, PA: John Bioren, 1810. Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original 1810 publication which has an early 20th century rebinding. Exterior shows some soiling and minor corner bumps internal binding is good, no hinge issues. Text pages are darkened due to age spotting and foxing is present. The rear section of pages starting at 500 is a small hole in the bottom outside corner which is likely from insect damage. This is very small and measures less than one half-inch. Only handwriting found in the book is on the title page which has the signature of the original owner. This is the original publication from 1810 and not a newer reprint though the binding is early 20th century. This is also volume 3 only of the original four volumes as listed on the title page.

Exterior is in poor condition with leather darkened and brittle, both front and rear boards are barely hanging on by a single section of binder string. Spine is blackened and extremely brittle. Boards also show staining on both front and rear. The internal binding is in better shape with all text pages secure. Paper is darkened due to age and foxing and spotting is present throughout the worst being the end pages and pastedowns though some pages are also quite dark. First section of pages also contains a dark stain in the gutter. Only handwriting found in book is on the title page by the original owners name is penned in the upper left corner which appears to read "Jno Mellon". Washington DC: Government Printing Office, 1879. Hardcover. Good-. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. The hardcover, brown cloth boards, stamped on spine. Exterior shows fading along with edge and corner wear. Interior pages are toned due to age and some foxing and spotting is present. Contains black and white and color illustrations as well as a large foldout (decrease was slightly off on the foldout which cause the very last portion of the foldout to fray a bit at the bottom - the crease has been reset so there wont be any more damage). The interior rear hinge is cracked but and front hinge is starting. Also, the front free end page is barely attached by just a small portion of the bottom. There are no signatures or bookplates present, no library markings. The rear end pages have a small dampstain along the fore edge. Washington, DC: Government Printing Office, 1909. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, maroon cloth boards show some spotting and soiling along with edge and corner bumps/light wear. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues at boards but there is some pulling in spots of the text pages to where you can see a thin line of webbing (see one of the photos). No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting found. Pages are lightly toned due to age and there is some foxing around the frontispiece. This affects both the title page and the first end page and is caused by the reaction of the two different types of paper.

New York: Walter V. Mckee, 1928. 1st Edition . Hardcover. VG-. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Hardcover, no DJ. Original owner was H. H. Ellelstyn, who is listed on page 340 as being part of the original cast. A note was penned on pg. 340 stating "The above is printed wrong as I was Sergeant Moriarty & Casey was MacLachlan - HH Esselstyn". (see images). Limited Edition, First edition. Book states printing was limited to exactly 400 copies and this is number 159. Boards showing soiling and wear, lower fore edge corners worn through. VG- condition overall.

Softcover, original government publication in original wraps - not a rebound library edition. Tan wraps are in rough shape and has numerous chips and large sections missing, which is the reason for the poor condition grade. Front cover hinge is pretty fragile and should be reinforced. Despite the rough exterior the interior binding is good with no issues. Pages are toned due to age and some spotting and foxing is present. Title page also has tears in the upper left corner. No signatures or bookplates found, no handwriting, no library markings present.

New York: Harper & Brothers, 1926. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Herb Roth. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, blue cloth boards with paper label on front and spine. Exterior shows scuffing and spotting and spine is faded. Edges and corners show bumps/wear. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues except for some light pulling in spots. No bookplates, no library markings, no pages torn or loose. The front end page, presumably different prices. Paper is toned due to age and there are some smudge marks and spotting present, with the worst being the end pages and pastedowns. Stated first edition on the copyright page.

Hartford, CT: Connecticut Publishing Company, 1878. Hardcover. Fair. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, dark purple pebbled boards, blind stamped with gilt to front and spine. Previous owner's name an 1879 date on front end page. All pages are attached though sections are hauled in by just a few sections of original binder string. And is starting to open a front board. Pages are toned with foxing along with some smudges and fingerprints present.

Toyko, Japan: Japan House of Art, 1961. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Soft cover. Near Fine. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. Mrs. Iwae Oi. See photos for condition details. Tall softcover, original 1961 publication which states first edition, November 1961, on last page. Red paper boards with silk string binding. Publication still had the original glassine sleeve in book was still taped shut at top and bottom. The paper on the top outside corner had also attached itself to the cover making a small mark the corner. The same corner has a number 175 stamped there. The clear plastic cover was carefully removed showing the pages inside still bright and clean. The only issue found is on the last page where there is a small crimp in the lower outside corner. Photos have been provided with the glassine cover both on and off the book, the protective cover is in rough shape and grades only as fair condition. Book is been placed in a acid-free protective clear bag.

Tokyo: Charles E. Tuttle Co., 1971. 3rd Printing. Hardcover. Near Fine. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with original slipcase. Slipcase shows scuffing and light soiling/spotting along with edge and corner wear. No splits are present on the case. Paper in cloth covered boards are clean with only minor corner wear along with a few foxing spots, mainly along the bottom edge. Internal binding is good and text pages are tight. The front end page has a small foxing spots in the center but text pages are clean and bright. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting, no remainder marks.

Hardcover, blue cloth boards with large paper label on front. Exterior shows minor scuffing and soiling along with sunning to the edges and spine. Edges and corners show bumps/wear. Internal binding is good at the boards but there is some pulling throughout the pages where you can see a thin line of webbing. Pictorial end pages in front and rear are free of any handwriting or bookplates, no library markings. The half title page did have something written at the bottom which was erased, though you can still see that something was there.

New York: Authors & Publishers Corporation, 1927. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, generically inscribed and signed by the author on the front end page and dated 10/7/29. Red cloth board shows spotting and scuffing with vertical splash marks on the front and loss to the finish on the spine. There is also a hole in the cloth that measures about one third of an inch just to the right of the title. Internal binding is good and most pages are tight though there is some pulling in spots in a small holes starting at page 14 in the hinge area (gutter). The front pastedown contains a full-page notice from the publisher that is taped in, and there is a darkened rectangular mark in the upper left corner - presumably from an old price sticker. Hardcover, green cloth boards decorated in gilt on front and spine. Exterior shows minor scuffing along with minor edge and corner bumps/wear. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues at boards though there is a bit of pulling at page 96/97. Dark green end pages in front and rear are free of any handwriting or bookplates. Pages are toned due to age and some very minor scattered foxing is present. An attractive copy for its age with no major flaws. Top exterior page edge gilt. First edition thus with single date of 1890 appearing on the title page and publication contains 520 pages instead of the smaller editions which contained only 486 pages.
