By the Bishop of Llandaff in Wales, Great Britain. Six of the plates, featur the Llandaff Cathedral, provide early examples of color printing. Bishop Ollivant discusses the Cathedral chiefly from 1575 to the present time, with extracts from the Act Books of the Chapter. This history of the building and restoration of the Cathedral was written to raise funds to continue with the ongoing restoration. Edges rubbed, lightly faded, spotting to endpapers, interior very good. (19246).

Eight sisters of Notre Dame de Namur arrived in Cincinnati from Belgium in 18 They were eager to teach and founded the first Notre Dame school in the Unite States. This trade card illustrates this first school with a French caption "Etablissement des soeurs de Notre Dame, a Cincinnati, Etats Unis." With elaborate border in gold. Very good. 40574.

"A treatise on the early Christian and mediaeval church architecture of Italy which seeks to classify and date the major religious buildings of the period an analysis of their separate architectural components (apses, piers, buttresses, towers). Its author, William Sebastian Okely, was a Cambridge educated mathematician very much influenced by the architectural theories of William Whewell," (Hugh Pagan, 20:74). Okely spent three years in Italy at t expense of the University of Cambridge as "travelling bachelor." The substan of this book was sent back to the University in the form of Latin letters. Neatly rebacked in calf with original spine label preserved. Blind stamped o title page and table of content's pages "Presented by the publisher." Very good.
