Ca. 1920. The very rare bookplate of Theodore Weicker, noted collector, appears in the famed "Knave of Hearts by Maxfield Parrish," 1925. Mounted on acid-free folding card frame. The Yale Library has the original material relating to the making of the bookplate, including the lettering. Fine condition. Scarce.

(Folio) 39x33.5 cm (15ºx13º") original full pictorial vellum with image of the Christ carrying a lamb upon his shoulders. No. 5 of 100 copies. Signed by the author at the limitation statement; each plates with the artist's penciled monogram and date. Paolo Paschetto (1885-1963) was a devout Christian who apparently regarded his iconographic art as a calling or avocation as much as a profession. He served as a professor at the Royal Academy of Art in Rome. He was known in Italy as one of the foremost black-and-white artists and illustrators. Light wear; very good.

One page on folded sheet, Coventry Patmore (1823-1896), famed English poet and critic and Pre-Raphaelite ally, to Mr. Rawlins, asking him to call to interpret a legal document. "Can you look in tonight to tell me what it all means..." etc. Near fine. Patmore letters are quite scarce. Provenance: Directly from the William Fredeman Pre-Raphaelite Collection.

On the top of the title-page: R. M. Milnes, Esq. From Coventry Patmore.

ONE OF AROUND 20 COPIES, so noted with a notation in pencil on front free endsheet, and as well, with a letter typed from The Anderson Auction Company (secretary) dated 1910, to Mr. Lewis Kennedy Morse (owner and widely known collector of Patmore) further documenting his inquires, in part: "We have looked through all the sales held in England & for us a good many years and do not find that another copy has ever been offered for sale." Buxton Forman, with his bookplate and penciled initials, as well as the note: "I fancy this book is by P. G. Patmore." With 12-page publisher's catalog dated May, 1826.
