Lightly foxed eps. 11" high. 430,431-836,268pp. . 4 of 6 inner hinge papers cracked, though hinges still sound. Outwardly shabby, but clean. Text block top edges clean as new. All other edges deckled, without any appreciable soiling. Furthur, in all 3 vols, the fore edges of a quarter of all leaves were never cut open. Still a useful set. .

With a 36p booklet of place names, street names, etc. Bright & clean, in & out. Map unfolds 6 times horizontally & 3 times vertically with most fold line corners tearing. This will not tolerate much unfolding & folding. Ideally it should be linen backed and probably left opened up. .

Label reads PARKER'S EXPLORING TOUR. 8vo xvi,(17),18-422,6pp. Front hinge held by cords alone. . Tight binding. Light foxing but no other soiling or staining. Howes P89 states the map is the first to show the Oregon interior accurately. Map has had its inner hinge repaired with archival repair tape. Repair solely in the margin area. The map has 12 fold line intersections but only one with a pin hole. NO other pin holes and obviously, no tears or chips. Six dime size foxing spots. Outermost fold line age browned. Otherwise almost as bright & clean as new. Map dated 1838, printed in Utica, NY. An important map and very seldom found in any edition. .

FLAWS: rubbed extrems, soiled top edge, unsightly foxing on front pastedown and adjoining ep, contents otherwise pristine. Reproductions of military prints from a very rare pre 1850 military magazine. Introduction states these repros are all modern lithographs with modern hand coloring. Superb prints. .

All interiors FINE, BUT vol 3 (La Salle ..) with inked name. The second vol, "Jesuits .....", is dated 1930 and is the only vol in DJ. This DJ worn but clean, priced $2.50 on inner flap. Vol 13, "LIFE OF FRANCIS PARKHAM" is by Farnham. .
