Near fine. <p>The preface is by Michel Onfray.<p>Saint-Paul and Saint-Joseph were two prisons in Lyon, built in he 19th century and closed and put to another use in 2009. Before "collective amnesia" overtook the past of the prisons, artist Ernest Pignon-Ernest and photographer Bruno Paccard recorded through artworks and photographs the buildings and those incarcerated, tortured and executed within their walls.<p>The text is in French.

Good. - A 12-1/8 inch high by 8-3/4 inch wide leaf from the Argentinian sports magazine "El Grafico", with a full-page illustration of the American sprinter Charles "Charley" Paddock portrayed in three-quarter profile from the chest up. The corners are slightly creased and there are stab-marks along the page's right edge. A color illustration of the "Primera Division del Club Atletico Estudiantes de la Plata" team is pictured on the verso. Good. Charley Paddock (1900-1943) was considered the "World's Fastest Human" in the 1920's. Although he stood out for his unusual finishing style of jumping at the tape, Paddock was a fast solid sprinter who set world records under his coach Dean Cromwell and won several Olympic gold medals. Very good. - Letter penned in black ink & filling almost 3 sides of a sheet of light gray paper folded once to form 4 sides approximately 7-1/4 inches high by 4-5/8 inches wide. The letter has been mounted on a lightly larger sheet of cream-colored stiff paper. Signed "Anglesey" There are a few small ink smudges to the 2nd & 3rd sides. Very good. <p>The letter is addressed to Scottish geologist Sir Roderick Murchison and concerns a publication which Murchison is proposing and how it would be funded. "Some Estimate of the probable cost of money and of time is called for from General Colby, and when it is received you shall again hear from me." Program for a song recital by Gertrud Wettergren given at Montclair High School Auditorium, Montclair, New Jersey on November 19th, 1937 as part of the 1937-38 season of the Unity Institute's Unity Concert Course.Gertrud Wettergren [1897-1991] was a Swedish mezzo-soprano who sang with the Royal Swedish Opera between 1922 and 1948. She made her American debut in "Aida" at the the Metropolitan Opera in New York in 1935. Her roles at the Met included Brangane in "Tristan und Isolde" and Venus in "Tannhauser. She opened the 1936-37 season in "Samson and Dalila", giving her last performance there in January 1938.

A Danish classic, originally published in two volumes in 1932 and 1933, translated by Carl Malmberg with an introduction by P. M. Mitchell.

Very good. <p>First edition, wraps issue.<p>A bibliography of authors born in Iowa who had published at least five or more original books. Among the authors included are Herbert Hoover, Arthur Davison Ficke, Susan Glaspell, Carl Van Vechten, Paul Engle, Wallace Stegner and Bess Streeter Aldrich.
