The son of Pabst Brewing Company founder Frederick Pabst became president of this Milwaukee firm upon his father's death in 1904 and remained so until 1921, when he branched into real estate and many other business and civil endeavors. TDS, 3pp, 8" X 13" (stapled into 8½" X 14½" heavy stock folder), Milwaukee, WI, 1 April 1900. Very good. Three folds and quite minor edgewear. Lease agreement between Pabst Brewing and Company and the Wheeling Bridge and Terminal Railway Company of South Wheeling, West Virginia, in which the brewer rents a building and property at the South Wheeling railroad terminal for one year for the sum of $120 per year. Signed at the conclusion by a representative of Wheeling Bridge and Terminal Railway Company and by Gustav Pabst (then Vice President of the brewery) large and bold in brown ink. This pioneering Danvers, Massachusetts brickmaker joined the militia as a captain in 1773 and led a Danvers Alarm List Company into battle at Lexington on April 19, 1775; he supposedly took part in the Boston Tea Party, and his forbidding the drinking of tea in his house (his wife and her friends then went up on the roof to imbibe) inspired poet Lucy Larcom's poem "A Gambrel Roof."
