Nine of the ten attorneys who argued the case were either Howard University professors or graduates of the Law School. Among those law school graduates was Thurgood Marshall, the first African American to sit on the U.S. Supreme Court. Howard has had many many distinguished graduates, not only from the law school, but also the Medical School and many who made their mark thorough literature and other types of writing.
