Description:
New York: Frederick A. Stokes, 1938. Very Good in a Good dustjacket. Bound in full tan buckram. Both the spine and the front panel are stamped in red. Octavo. 303pps. There are spots of soiling to the cloth and touches of foxing to the endpapers and to the page-edges. There is also a faint pencil-erasure (of price) at the top of the ffep. Otherwise clean and soundly bound; no names or inscriptions. The rare and striking dustjacket, glossy in a new mylar sleeve and married to this copy, is flawed though presentable: it is backed in brown paper from a previous mylar sleeve (which has, frankly, served to sustain it) and there are abrasions -- superficial -- to the interior of either flap from where they had been affixed to their original book. The bottom 1/8" of the jacket has been clipped off (presumably to allow it to fit into a smaller sleeve); this affects none of the text. There is general overall rubbing wear along the folds and the edges, though there are no large chips or tears. The original… Read More

Description:
New York: Appleton and Company, 1915. Very Good+ in a Very Good dustjacket. A little wear to the heel of the spine and mild bumping to the head of the spine, otherwise square and tight with sharp tips. There is a brief and neatly-penned inscription on the front pastedown. Pictorial front board with gilt-stamping, still bright; the gilt on the spine a bit dull. The pages are yellowing. The dustjacket, glossy in mylar and quite scarce, has some chipping along the edges; general edgewear. It's darkened with age but, overall, quite presentable. The original price of '1.35net' is still intact on the front flap; a label reading '1.40net', apparently from an early bookseller, is on the jacket's spine. An interesting book, contemporaneous with the onset of World War I. Purchase with confidence: all books, gradings, and descriptions are rendered the care of a genuine bibliophile. Satisfaction guaranteed or all costs you've incurred will be promptly refunded. Thanks for your interest in Nooks Of… Read More

There is a touch of sunfading at the extreme top edge of the backstrip, otherwise flawless: clean, tight, square, and bright. All tips are sharp. The text is immaculate; no reading wear and no previous ownership markings. The dustjacket, glossy in a mylar sleeve, has a horizontal incision -- very fine and closed -- on the front panel; it is otherwise as new; the original price is intact. SIGNED and inscribed by the author to a previous owner on the second fep. "...A young woman is in jail, accused of the mercy killing of her mother. She says she didn't do it; she thinks she knows who did. When Ellen Gulden first learns that her mother, Kate, has cancer, the disease is already far advanced.
