Salt Lake City: Porte Publishing, 1924. First edition.. Original textured brown boards, designed and lettered in gilt on panels of green. Some shelf wear, a very good copy. Porte wrote numerous books to do with commercial printing. This looks like a fictionalized version of some of his travels in the USA, all to do with the economics and printing of a newspaper, THE HERALD. Smith: AMERICAN FICTION 1901-1925, cites an earlier book: "The Printers of Chiapolis" published under the same imprint in [c.1922]; presumably a similar work.

Twenty-two plates, plus two color plates printed in pochoir by Daniel Jacomet, Paris. Three maps and a folding chart, and illustrations within the text. 680 copies were printed; this is number 115 of 678 numbered copies. A fine, clean copy in the slipcase, which shows faint wear. Issued as Ethno-Mycological Studies No. 1. Printed in Italy. An excellent copy of the special edition of this important book. Wasson provides compelling evidence for the important role played by hallucinogenic mushrooms in ancient and modern cultures.

Laid in is a subscription form the THE LISTENER. This booklet was issued by the BBC when they changed the strength and location of some of their transmitters. "The pamphlet .... was distributed free of charge to large numbers of listeners." [Briggs: The History of Broadcasting in the United Kingdom: Volume Two].

Watercolour & gold on paper. Fine condition. The image measures about 4 x 6 inches, matted and framed in a frame measuring 8.25 x 10.25 inches. Signed: Mukesh. This is a popular romantic image, representing the Ragini Madhumadhavi (the wife of Raga Megha), feeding a peacock in a leafy tree with honey from a cup. Finely executed. The first edition was published in 1895; this is presumably the second edition. Very scarce.

Prints the title poem and another: Late Arrival. This was issued in the Unicorn Press folio Series 3, No. 1: A Canadian Folio, issued in 1969 in an edition of 375 copies.

cat40a. Marseille, France: "Studies" Publications, (1928). First edition. Brown cloth, spine and front cover lettered in dark brown. Wear to tips, inner hinges glued, a bit of soiling to front cover, a very good copy. Fantastic tale, dealing with a lost race in a city in Africa. Not common.

Rugeley: Walters / London: Burns, 1844. First edition. . 12mo. Burgundy half-calf & marbled boards, spine gilt. Spine label chipped, affecting the title, rubbed at extremities, about very good. Frontispiece & four inserted plates. Wolff 2766, describing a copy in original scarlet cloth. Issued as the third volume in the "Juvenile Englishman's Library". Wolff's copy contains a final leaf printing a prospectus of the series, not present in this copy. A moral tale produced "for young persons of the upper and middle classes".
