Jerusalem: Hasafer Publishing house, 1923. First edition illustrated by Raban, limited to 500 copies, this copy unnumbered. Folio, unpaginated, [26] colored plates which include the text in Hebrew, mounted opposite the calligraphic text translated to English. Colorful, decorated endpapers with later restoration and reinforcement around edges. Publisher's drab cloth decorated in gilt and silver had been sympathetically rebacked. Boards worn along edges and at corners, toning to pages but plates beautifully preserved with rice papers intact. Manuscript poem inscription from previous owner dated 1926 on front fly (right to left), else clean. A very good, somewhat restored copy. Stunning production from Ze'ev Raban (born Wolf Rawicki, 1890-1970), the leading artist of the Bezalel school, which blended traditional Persian art with Jugendstil and Art Nouveau in depicting Biblical and Zionist themes.

Cincinatti, OH: The Hon. Murray Seasongood, 1932. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Good. Interesting archive of provenance from the collection of the Hon. and Mrs. Murray Seasongood detailing the ownership passage of the famous portrait by Sir Henry Raeburn of the Scottish Civil Engineer, John Rennie the Elder. Murray Seasongood was a prominent lawyer, politician, and mayor in Cincinnati in the 20s and 30s. Nicely bound in red morocco, this thin folio contains various original photographs, negatives, telegrams, and typed and handwritten letters detailing the ownership of the painting from Brigadier General Sir A. Mudge, Mr. James P. Labey, The John Levy Galleries, The Chester H. Johnson Galleries, and Hon. Murray Seasongood. There are also several letters of authentication from artist Charles Holmes, R. R. England: Lion Publishing, 1987. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Stated first edition, 1987. This copy, though unmarked, comes from the personal library of Madeleine L'engle. MacDonald, being an influential figure to modern fantasy in general, and whom L'engle often quoted, had a particularly profound impact on her faith and writings on Christian myth and mysticism. Very good hardcover with some tanning to the page block edge in like jacket with minimal wear.

Butte: McKee Printing Company, 1912. First edition. 15x12cm, 135pp. Vignette illustration on title, illustrated initial, and at end of text. Original maroon pebbled cloth, upper board stamped in gilt, page edge stained red. A nearly fine copy with lettering a bit dulled. A descriptive and informative short history and guide of the The Yellowstone region, written by journalist and Montana newspaper man, John H. Raftery (1865-1944).  Contains a discussion on National Parks, Lewis and Clark, Colter's first visit, scientific exploration and military expeditions, protection of wildlife, and more.  Uncommon in the trade and seemingly not to be found in any of the standard references.  .

[New York]: Pennsylvania Railroad System, 1921. 21x14cm, 27pp. Printed in two colors throughout with vignette illustrations and photographs. Map of the route attached at rear. Saddle stitched, brown card wrappers with embossed gilt lettering color illustration mounted to front cover. Some edge wear else nearly fine. Very nicely printed commemorative booklet from the American Bankers' Association convention culminating in Los Angeles, October 3-7, 1921, personally conducted by the Pennsylvania Railroad System.  Photographs and descriptions of the route, including Pike's Peak, Salt Lake City, Grand Canyon, Riverside, San Diego, etc.     We find mention in OCLC of other years' booklets for this convention, but not this particular iteration.

Denver: The Smith-Brooks Printing Company for the Van Noy Inter-State Company, 1917. Oblong 8vo, 9.5x12," unpaginated with 24 colored views on tipped-in plates including a folded plate covering 2 pages and map of the line at rear. Very good in thick, green, illustrated paper wrappers, string bound, showing some wear at corners and edges, toning to wraps, and occasional soiling to pages, affecting the edge of one illustration. Nicely produced viewbook for sale only en route on the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad. The printing of this particular souvenir became cheaper as time went by, the earlier editions such as this having beautiful, full color plates with views of Denver, Castle Rock, Palmer Lake, the Royal Gorge, and others.

Stated first printing of this autobiographical work from the English philosopher and art historian, Herbert Read, who was an early adopter in the country of the Existentialist movement. From the library of Madeleine L'Engle and bearing her married ownership signature and date in 1947 on the front pastedown. L'Engle later explored existentialism in her many fantasy works for young readers, namely A Wrinkle in Time. Very good with some wear to bottom edges of green boards. Jacket toned to spine and showing some wear and rubbing along folds and at corners, else nicely preserved.
