Description:
Savannah: n/a, 1884. Letter. Very good. Letter. Paper measures 8" x 10". Folded. All 4 sides of the paper used for writing. R. B. Jewett is staying in Savannah for a few months but takes time to write his Uncle James, apparently an investor as well, regarding the upkeep for a house in Wilmington, a business, and other properties. Jewett has received an offer for a house for 2000.00 from a Mr. William Calder but is expecting $2500. Jewett writes, "My idea is that Wilmington is going down hill fast but if they succeed in getting the rail road into Onslow Co and the Cape Fear and Yadkin Valley R R to Wilmington it will help a heap." Jewitt mentions the store is now occupied by "Mr. JC Craft as a furniture store and I have his note endorsed by Mr James Sprunt, making it secure at $600." Jewitt signs off by telling his Uncle that if he wishes to sell the property to Mr. Calder he is in agreement.
