Hinges are week but holding. Neat, early ownership mark on front free endpaper. All text and illustrations are tightly bound some age toning to page edges, otherwise in tight and bright. The hand colouring on the illustrations skilfully completed.

Pp418..447 have sixteen pages with laid on text sheets indicating perhaps a print failing on these pages. A good book with an interesting provenance and unique tight binding.

Dustwrapper age toned to edges and spine with small tears to top spine, without loss. Also included are 6 8vo lose sheets in the hand of Ian Grey with over thirty inaccuracies written by Gladys Scott Thomson. Two interesting sources of information from two authors.

Text below map and over with a description of Cheshire and the antiquities therein. This map used by Grose for the Antiquities of England with all reference to Seller removed. Early paint mark below lower border, otherwise in good clean and bright condition.

Some small breaks at some folds, not affecting imagery or use of map. Title label is damaged, the map is clean and bright, probably unused. A very interesting record.

Speed has used William Smith's revisions of Saxton and the Braun & Hogenberg plan of Chester. Good margins. Very small hole (approx 2mm or 1/10in) in the decorative border, otherwise fine condition. A strong dark impression of this famous decorative county map of Cheshire.

This person could be Ralph or Molly Izzard. Ralph Izzard a journalist who spent many years in Beirut had also been involved in Naval Intelligence and acquainted with Ian Fleming.
