Sabatier was professor of Zoologt at the University of Montpellier and founder of the zoological station "de Sette". In his various works he postulated some interesting views regarding "evolution", but he and his works seem to be forgotten today.--(Bibliothèque Evolutioniste IV).

With 3 illustrations and 17 portaits of mushrooms, all in wood-engravings. An early work on the culture of mushrooms and the description of common species (both edible and toxic) found in nature. The last chapter is devoted to intoxication and its treatment.-(Scattered foxing).

Original printed wrappers. ¶ A very usefull study about the development of the French national pharmacopoeia from the first edition in 1818 to the Codex of 1965. Originally published as a thesis, here as "Supplement au no 120 du Bulletin de l'Ordre des Pharmaciens".

H. Sanche,: New York,, (1909).. 184, [vi, blank] pp. Small oblong 8vo (15 x 12 cm.). Original printed wrappers. With a portrait of the author and several other illustrations. ADDED: a copy of the original Oxydonor Victory and the original container for this device, both made in engraved chrome. A rare complete set of this masterpiece of mechanical fakes, perhaps the greatest in the American history. "The original exploiter of what may be called 'gas-pine therapy' was one Hercule Sanche, who modestly described himself as the 'Discoverer of the Laws of Spontaneous Cure of Diseases'. Of course, Sanche did not 'discover' this long known truth at all, but he must be given credit for appreciating its commercial value". (Cramp).

The very rare first two volumes this scarce periodical. The series was latter published as "Journal de l'Horlogerie française (last isue in 1929).

Contemporary half basane, spine gilt lettered on red morocco label, richly gilt decorated in the typical style (Empire) from the period; marbled boards (slightly discoloured). With 8 very fine engraved copperplates by Adam after Scarpa's drawings. ¶ First edition of this collection. The second work is the first French edition of Scarpa's "Memoria chirurgica sui piedi torti" (1803), being the "First accurate description of the pathological anatomy of congeniital club-foot"(G&M, 4308). Heirs of Hippocrates, 1108: "Edited by Léveillé, this volume contains two of Scarpa's important works translated into French for the first time... In addition Léveillé had included two of his own works on dislocation of the femur and necroses". -- (First few leaves with a small clear stain in the lower margin; some scattered foxing, but a very good copy).

Schenck's bestselling nostrums were Seaweed Tonic, Mandrake Pills and Pulmonic Syrup, the latter a remedy diseases of the lungs contained 96,4% sugars (Cramp p. 104 for the full analysis).

The material produced and supplied by this famous firm to over 3000 institutions and 300 musea woldwide, was of outstanding quality.

With 8 fine figures on 2 lithographed plates from the presses of Meijer & Co, Amsterdam. ¶ Vrolik was professor of anatomy and surgery at Groningen, and later at Amsterdam. His greatest contributions were in the fields of vertebrate anatomy and embryology. Schroeder van der Kolk is especially known as the reformer of mental care in Holland. His works on neurology and neuropathology are looked upon as "neurological classics". --(Separate from Verh. d. Eerste Klasse Kon. Ned. Inst. 3e Reeks, Deel I , 1849).

Preserved in modern paper wrappers. What was left of the title-page mounted on contemporary paper, the inner & outer margins of the last page reinforced. ¶ By order of the Napoleontic government the Ecole de Médecine published this report related to croup. The commission involved was composed of Corvisart, Hallé, Pinel, le Roy, Baudeloque, Le Roux, Chaussier, Moreau, Laennec, Schilgué, Parist and Friedlander. The editor was Schilgué, but owning to his premature death in 1808, suceeded by Moreux de la Sarthe. The work consist of an analysis of 68 French and foreign work on the subject, starting with Baillou (1576) and ended with Caron (1808). The analysis is concluded by brief chronological check-list of the works examinated. Very rare.

Very richly illustrated with hundreds of plates, engraved portraits, maps, views, plans and other illustrations. ¶ A magnificent historic survey of the first 75 years of scientific development in Belgium written by specialist for each subject. The works is divided into 3 main parts: learned societies, sciences and universities. The disciplines life science, natural sciences and exact sciences are extensively described and illustrated. Complete copies, like this one, are rare.-- Finely printed with Art Noveau decorations for each chapter. Copy with ample margins.--(A few leaves detached from the book block).-- This is a heavy (8 kg.) item thus postage is accordingy.
