Page 3 has farm-houses and is spelled correctly and page 5 has the "W" in why in bolder type, list of illustrations is set in 6 lines not 8 all of which seem to represent a later state.

Hartford, Conn: American Publishing Company, 1874. Hardcover. Good/None. Early printing of the first edition which was printed in 1870.The front cover is quite faded and soiled but the gilt still is present and the rear cover has two small holes in the cloth. The spine is more faded and the gilt is very dull and the cloth has rubbed through at the very top and bottom of the spine. There is a light brown stain on approximately 50 pages starting ar page 53-maybe coffee-but there is only minimal evidence of moisture damage. The remainder of the contents are clean and tight. There is some soiling to the edges of the text block
