This is a nice little ABC, "Printed in an edition of fifty copies by g.e. albers at the Water Table Press on the occasion of Christopher's second birthday. April 12, 1971".

Plate size is 50cm x 38cm, on a sheet measuring 64cm x 54cm. Text on verso is in Dutch, headings are SARLAT and Het Bisdom SARLAT IN PERIGORT. Tailpiece and initial on verso. Page number on verso is 40, signature mark Qq. Imprint at lower right: Amsterdami Apud Guiljelmum Blaeu. Short tears to margins, small yellowed tape repair on verso by fold, a clean very good copy. Devonshire: Richard Gilbertson, 1968. . Hot pink printed wrappers, stapled. A 10-page booklet. Issued as No. 4 in The Manuscript Series. Fine condition. This is one of 312 numbered copies, of an edition of 500. Poems written for the 1968 Harvest Festival at Little Missenden.

Knotting: Sceptre Press, (1976). First edition.. Purple wrappers, lettered in black, stapled. A fine copy. Of an edition of 250 numbered copies, this is copy #61, one of 200 not signed (#s 1-50 were signed).

NY: Croscup & Sterling Company / London: Macmillan, (1898). . Fourteen volumes. Three-quarter wine morocco & marbled boards, raised bands, spines gilt. The original owner's monogram (EVB) is in gilt on the spines and front covers. Marbled end papers. Top edges gilt, other edges trimmed. This is a limited issue of the "Biographical Edition", copy #5 of 25 copies made for America, with a numbered limitation leaf in each volume. Each volume has a frontispiece in colour, and several illustrations; the frontispieces of Volumes IV and XIV are signed in pencil by the Photographers, Walker & Boutall. The frontispiece of Volume XIV is from a photograph by Julia Margaret Cameron. One volume (V8) has two scratches across the front board, but this is a remarkably fine set, in lovely condition. This is a heavy multi-volume set which will incur additional postage costs.

NY, 1841.. A broken run of 22 issues from New Series, Vol. 3, 1841. These issues were in a binding at one time; condition is a bit ragged, disbound, so some pages are loose. Eight issues have parts of Barnaby Rudge, serialized (not complete), pirated. The issues with Dickens in are Volume 3, #s 12, 13, 17, 34, 39, 41, 43, 50. It was The Albion that first printed Dickens in America (in 1835) when they printed (without permission) A Dinner at Poplar Walk and several other early sketches, which prompted Dickens to pursue a campaign to promote international copyright laws. These 1841 issues are uncommon.

Mostly 8 pages, a couple of covers loose, very good condition. Edited by Thomas K. Willis, published by the Victoria Machinery Depot Company. Illustrated. Articles and ads concerning technical and machinery issues in the Victoria area. Included are issues: Vol 3 #3 / Vol 3 #5 / Vol 4 #4 / Vol 4 #5 / Vol 5 #2 / Vol 5 #3 (2 copies) / Vol 5 #5 / Vol 5 #8 (2 copies) / Vol 6 #8 / Vol 6 #9, spanning August 1944 - Sept 1947.

London: Curtain Press, 1946 - 1949. Original pictorial wrappers. Issues 1-9, lacking number 3; so, 8 issues contained in two original decorative paper slipcases. Some minor edge wear, a few creases and small stains, but basically all issues are fine, the slipcases a bit rubbed. Many colour plates, Rex Whistler, etc. A handsome and stylish periodical.

NY: New Amsterdam Theatre, 1925. Color pictorial wrappers, stapled. 40pp. Staples rusting, a nice clean copy. Cover art is unsigned, an art nouveau arrangement featuring a pastoral scene of a shepherd. The back cover is a terrific color ad for Murad, The Turkish Cigarette. The show was the Latest 1925 Edition of ZIEGFELD FOLLIES, with Dialogue by J.P. McEvoy, Will Rogers and W.C. Fields. The New Amsterdam was in NY, on 42nd St. West of Broadway.

NY: Globe Theatre, 1924. Color pictorial wrappers, stapled. 48pp. A nice clean copy. Cover art is signed "Wilhelm 1909". The back cover has a very nice color butterfly ad for Murad Cigarettes. The main show this week: Fred Stone in STEPPING STONES. Music by Jerome Kern. The Globe Theatre was at Broadway & 46th St., NY.

NY: Sam H. Harris Theatre, 1925. Color pictorial wrappers, stapled. 32pp. Staples rusting, a nice clean copy. Cover art is unsigned, looks very much like an imitation of Maxfield Parrish. The back cover is a great color ad for Murad Cigarettes. The show this week: The Duncan Sisters in TOPSY AND EVA, based on "Uncle Tom's Cabin". The Sam H. Harris Theatre was in NY, on 42nd St. near Broadway.

London: E. Rimmel, 1869 - 1879. Original decorative wrappers, each programme is 4pp; a single leaf, folded once to make a booklet (one, from 1877, is 8pp.). Mostly undated, but one contains an announcement of the first anniversary of the Theatre, and is dated December 20th, 1869. Another, in slightly larger format, is dated 1879. Condition is mostly very good - some have chips from corners and edges, and some have short tears or splitting at the spine. The issue of December 20, 1869 lists Mr. Henry Irving as appearing in "Uncle Dick's Darling". Irving later wrote a sketch for the "Clover Papers" in which he reminisced about this play at the Gaiety Theatre. The Gaiety Theatre opened in 1868, built on the site of the earlier Strand Musick Hall. These programmes were "Printed and Perfumed by E. Rimmel, 96, Strand," etc. ... The perfume has not survived the years, alas. For the lot:

Front cover art is unsigned, several women on a stairway with diaphanous scarves. The back cover is an ad for Melachrino Cigarettes; the inner back cover ad is for Kelly-Springfield tires, a nice graphic. The show this week: Florence Reed in THE SHANGHAI GESTURE. The 46th Street Theatre was in NY, on 46th West of Broadway.
