Description:
Tom Taylor's Our American Cousin, script printed in 1869.
Orange printed wrappers.
This is the show that was playing at Ford's Theater on April 14, 1865. Laura Keene, who was in the play the night Lincoln was shot, had acquired the rights to Our American Cousin in 1858.
Except for manuscript prompt books to be used by the actors, this edition became the first time it had been in print since that tragic night. Indeed, even this printing was not officially "published" at all, it being still too sensitive for general distribution.
A page in the front has a listing of the "Original Cast of Characters / Laura Keene's Theatre, New York, October 15, 1858."
The very last words Lincoln had heard on this earth appear on page 37: "Well, I guess I know enough to turn you inside out, old gal, you sockdologizing old man-trap."
An excellent example of this scarce piece.

Description:
Limited Edition, Signed.
Charles Turzak's Biography in Woodcuts of Benjamin Franklin, includes 80 woodcuts with a simple narrative text by his wife Florence (a graduate of Northwestern University's journalism school). Turzak's art recounts Franklin's progress from runaway apprentice to Founding Father.
Turzak showed a strong interest in art early in life. As a child he would draw cartoons and carved small objects from peach pits. Charles was apprenticed to a neighbor, who was also an English cabinetmaker. In 1920, he was a $100 prize from the Purina company, and parlayed the prize to gain admission to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He soon became a freelance commercial artist.
During the Depression he was one of the first artists to participate in WPA projects. He produced murals in Chicago's main post office and elsewhere. His most famous work became the book Lincoln: Biography in Woodcuts, which he produced at and during the Century of Progress fair in Chicago (1933).
