Christian Magley (d.1839) married Elizabeth Flickinger, and in 1831 they immigrated from Oberbipp, Canton of Berne, Switzerland (via France) to New York City (Elizabeth died on ship, and was buried at Buffalo, New York). In 1832, the family moved to Licking County, Ohio. Descendants lived in Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin, Hawaii and elsewhere. No marks in book, binding tight. Some very light moisture stains bottom third of pages. No dust jacket. This is the scarce 1936 first edition, not the 1978 reprint.. Book condition VG-.

Stiff paper wraps, blue and red lettering and border on front cover with insignia of the 111th Ammunition Train of the 36th Division, 8vo 16 pp. History, in verse, of the experiences of members of the 111th Ammunition Train, mainly men from the Oklahoma national guard, during World War I. The 36th Division arrived in France in July, 1918, and was engaged in the MeuseÐArgonne offensive. Pages in this small book are not opened, nor bound. The 16 pages are printed on a single sheet of paper. This edition was printed in France while the author was still serving during occupation. It was later printed, with additional poems, after Underhill returned to Texas. No marks in book, covers clean. Book condition VG+. Scarce World War I title.
