Description:
London: J.C.Nimmo and Bain, 1884 What is the best paraphrase of the word Fan? The gentlemen of the Academy define it 'as a small piece of furniture which serves to set the air in motion' Others prefer an 'an air producing instrument' or alternatively 'a sort of portable screen with which ladies fan themselves.'
143 pages later you should be much wiser if you can stay the pace because it's not the easiest of reads. However it is well decorated and illustrated by Paul Avril which is much in its favour.
Book size 275x190mm.
