Very Good+ hardcover, signed and limited edition from Underwood-Miller, 1977. On the title page: handwritten limitation "96/111" and signed by Jack Vance (author) and Steve Fabian (illustrator). Illustrated map endpapers. Fifteen full page B&W illustrations by Fabian, one of which ("Retreat of the rat-folk") is repeated as the frontispiece. Some smudges to the top edge of the page block, and a pinhead sized dark spot to the lower fore edge. No other writing or marks inside or out; binding is solid and square. Unclipped dust jacket is in Very Good+ to Near Fine condition, with only fault some sunning of the spine. Colors are bright and sharp. Collects seven stories set in Vance's Dying Earth, and featuring the exploits of Cugel the Clever.

One of 200 in a limited edition and signed by the author on the limitation page. First published in magazine format as Planet of the Damned (Space Stories, December 1952) then in book format as Slaves of the Klau (an Ace Double, with Big Planet also by Vance, D-295, 1958). This Underwood-Miller edition restores the text to the author's original version as published in the 1952 magazine publication. Recently obtained from a private collector who purchased it new from Underwood-Miller in 1982, and he left it sealed in the original publisher's shrinkwrap. Opened during cataloging to verify the limitation and signature, and to take photos. A collector's grade copy; I can pretty much guarantee there is no better condition copy out there.
