A very neat blue ink Christmas gift inscription, Xmas 1925 'To Bella' to the front endpaper. Otherwise a near fine or fine copy. The jacket has not been price-clipped. It has a small chip to the middle of the rear panel - virtually no loss of text, some peripheral rubbing with several small or tiny chips to the peripheries and a little spotting (or small circular stains) and dust soiling. Several short tears to the margins of the jacket have been expertly repaired. A very good, clean, tight copy of a charming children's Christmas book.

Each of the full page landscape plates after David Roberts - the great nineteenth century travel artist famous for his views of Arabia, Egypt and the ancient near east. The plates are as follows: frontispiece, additional title page, 29 other views (Including several of Egypt a view of the Roman forum and one of the acropolis - Athens), 6 maps and plans and finally 2 family register plates (printed to both sides - 4 pages in all - none filled in).
