Description:
[Baltimore: Sun Book and Job Print. Office], 1915. Original Wrappers. Good binding. Octavo. 15, [2] pp. First edition, signed and inscribed by Van Horne. As issued, stapled into stiff, printed wrappers. 3/4" closed tear to the top margin that affects the entire textblock--tear is relegated to the margin, not affecting any text; a similar, albeit shorter closed tear affects the bottom margin of the pamphlet as well; the staples have torn through the central folio so it is now neatly laid in place. Despite the condition, this is remarkably uncommon in the trade and has only scarcely more than a couple dozen institutional holdings (OCLC 4476572). All the more remarkable is the presentation inscription by Van Horne to Eppa Hunton, Though there is no suffix, this is surely Eppa Hunton III, son of Confederate General and U.S. Senator, Eppa Hunton. He was also a founding partner of Richmond law firm, Hunton & Williams (now, Hunton Andrews & Kurth).
