In orange cloth with gold gilt titling, the book is in fine unread condition but for a small light mark on the title page bottom edge and touches of wear to the cover edges. The dustjacket is complete with the original price and ISBN on the back panel but has several closed tears, loss at the spine ends and touches of wear on the creases. Protected by an archival plastic cover. A very interesting Van Allsburg book.

Malcolm Varon, 1987. Fine poster/Fine frame. A beautiful scarce poster portrait of Georgia O'Keeffe close to her 90th birthday in October, 1977, as captured by long-time photographer of O'Keeffe and her paintings, Malcolm Varon. Signed by Varon on the bottom right of the poster. This special poster also includes the First Day of Issue of O'Keeffe's first commemorative stamp issued by the U.S. Post Office on May 23, 1996, 10 years after her death. She was similarly honored with another commemorative stamp in 2013 featuring a different painting. Finely framed in a quality metal aluminum frame with UV (conservation) plexiglass to preserve the poster. Overall the framed poster measures 28" wide by 20" wide. Gorgeous condition for a book nearly a century old. Provenance extended to E. Weyhe/Prints and Books on the Fine Arts in New York with receipt typewritten for Sept. 13, 1928. Often collectibles that present with forms of provenance make a delightful addition to any collector's library.

The first English translation of German author, Heinrich Von Kleist. This is a dramatic play telling the story of an army of Amazons who set to conquer Greek heroes to restock their female offspring (?); they blast into the midst of the Trojan war. Penthesilea is queen of the Amazons and it is she who is hunting Achilles in a "tragedy of love in a world governed by the rules of war." In a fine binding with maroon cloth and imbedded black and gold spine label. Mr. Sendak left a small ink mark near his signature; otherwise fine. In a fine colorful dustjacket. 159 pp. Beautiful Sendak illustrations. Very scarce signed by Sendak.
