Vandeleur lead a military expedition in 1897 that surveyed the Nupe country around the Niger river, and his route is shown on one of the maps. Also some military actions are described. This copy is ex-library, (Alassio English library) and has just a small stamp to title page, some ink class marks to front pastedown and to spine. A scarce book on lesser known episodes of the British empire in Africa, in Fair to Good condition overall.
