Yet another ambitious effort to remove money from the pockets of honest Americans. Much of this marketing matter is aimed at women who becomes ill from "feminine trouble" or suffer from the "diseases of women" -one considered by Dr. Pierce's to be infertility, which he quite shamelessly declares he can cure. The usual desired results for ailments of all kinds are given and a host of other textual variety is found within, i.e., from guaranteed aids for cleaning your kidneys to recipes for cleaning your house. The inside front cover shows a poor woman trapped inside of a tubular metal cage upon a bed, a "Condensation Couch for Auto-Induction Treatment" -only to be found at Dr. Pierce's Invalids' Hotel. Publisher's coupon, emulating scrip laid in.

With a phenomenal trick dancer, a July 1931 program for Copenhagen, Denmark's "Valencia" dance hall with half tone illustrations of the dancing and other vaudeville-style acts. The Danish-language program is accompanied by an English/Danish trade card advertising "[t]he largest and most fashionable Night Cabaret in Copenhagen." The dance hall had 3 musical bands and presented "International performances" until 2 o'clock in the morning. Near fine in a pictorial dust jacket, which has light soil, a few tiny paper defects, in like condition. Auspiciously printed the following month after the Great Crash of 1929. A handsome example of this entry-level investment "how-to" book for those seeking to build up their estate through prudent investment strategies. Laid in with this copy, is a single sheet soliciting the purchase of another Barron's title, Ten Rules for Investors. Missouri-native and author, Walker Van Riper (1887-1960) was graduated from Yale, taught banking and investments between 1914 to 1915 at Colorado College, and then was involved in investment banking and analysis in Denver from 1915 until his 1943 retirement. Very scarce in publisher's dust jacket.

Church in Linwood, Pennsylvania. Listed are all of the officers, secular music performed, numerous events, e.g., "Responsive Reading" from Evangelist Mrs. Rebecca Davis, Fairview A.M.E.. The history of Women's Day was presented as were readings, solo performances, sermons. The events were divided between the morning, afternoon, and evening. Free lunch was served.

All very good to near fine. Seventeen letters of the extended Park Family of Fannettsburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania. Most of the letters were written from 1886 to 1915. They are centered around siblings, William J. Park, James A. Park, Ortha Park, and Maggie (Margaret) Park and their mother, Jane M.H. Park. Two letters from 1865 were sent to William J. Park, a Tuscarora Academy student in Academia, Juniata County, Pennsylvania. Full of news of the home farm and of the neighborhood of Fannettsburg, the letters were co-written by his mother and his siblings, Ortha and Maggie. In an 1895 letter sent to Miss Maggie Park in Pueblo, her niece Nellie in Libonia, Pennsylvania encloses charming farm scene drawings made by a small child: wood being thrown, hay and weeds hauled, and rye being cut. Declaration of association signed by 51 Philadelphia merchants or firms against "Agents of European houses trading to this Country..." The merchants state plainly that these agents are "...importing on their own Account, and of receiving by consignment, large quantities of goods, and have also taken orders from persons in the retail business [thus harming] the Interests of the regular Importers, as well as of the greater part of the Retailers..." A December 2nd, 1790 article in Dunlap & Claypoole's lays out the problem. Philadelphia merchants are ordering their goods from manufacturers in Europe. A collection of speeches given in 1949 at this first anniversary and celebration: "Peace upon Israel" by Dr. Abba Hillel Silver - "In Praise of Liberty" by Senator Paul Hyde Douglas - "Courage or Calculation" by Senator Henry Cabot Lodge, Jr. - "Our Finest Hour" by Mayor Aubrey Eban. This souvenir was funded by and published for the American Zionist Council, an Israel lobby group founded in 1949, following Israel's independence. This likely one of their earliest publications, if not the first. With illustrations from photographs showing celebrations in Madison Square Park, Carnegie Hall and elsewhere. Scarce to commerce.
