Atheneum Books for Young Readers, 1998. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. New/No Jacket Issued. Susan Gabeer. CONDITION: UNREAD 1998 Atheneum hard cover (pictorial boards - no DJ), first printing. Soft, sweet color illustrations by Susan Gaber. CONTENT: This lilting book celebrates the onset of winter: "Where oh where do the leaves all go/when winter comes and the cold winds blow?" This question is repeated for flowers, caterpillars, songbirds, field mice, deer, and fish. The rhyming answers use simple and accessible language. Gaber's exuberant acrylic paintings show a child, mother, father, and dog taking a walk through the woods during a snowfall. The use of perspective in the illustrations unifies the book, as broad landscapes appear on the question pages, while close-ups of the family and the animals and plants being discussed appear on the pages with the answers. Through both words and pictures, this book conveys a sense of joy in the changing seasons. From the title page showing the… Read More

Decorated end pages. Absolutely adorable & fun color illustrations by Ruth Chan. CONTENT: You could actually subtitle this book as "Sloths Gotta Sloth." The words of the work are the title itself, and a red fox watches with approval as Mervin the sloth stands nearby. A bird collides with the text and complains about its placement; he knows the best thing in the world is flying. Moles pop up from the green bottom of the page-for them the best thing is digging. CONDITION: NEW 1998 St. Martin's hardcover (blue boards) & dust jacket (in mylar cover), first edition, first printing. Bob Sabin dust jacket art with small chapter decorations. CONTENT: Veryan's follow-up to The Riddle of Alabaster Royal is an exciting tale of swashbuckling adventure and romance. Readers who enjoyed the first novel will be eager to discover what new adventures await Capt. Jack Vesper and his friends, while those making their first acquaintance with Veryan's work will find that this new novel stands on its own. The premise here is a (deceptively) simple one: Jack is determined to discover the identity of his real father in hopes that his true parentage will make him worthy of Miss Consuela Jones, the woman he loves. CONDITION: NEW 2018 Hard Case Crime/Titan Books trade paperback, first PB edition, printing unknown. Wonderful Paul Mann cover art painting. CONTENT: A sharp and funny tale of a daring art heist gone wrong-inspired by the same real-life, still-unsolved crime depicted in the Netflix hit series "This Is A Robbery." A group of criminals in 1946 pull off the heist of the century, stealing a dozen priceless works of art from a Boston museum. But while the thieves get caught, the art is never found. Forty years later, the last surviving thief gets out of jail and goes hunting for the loot, involving some innocent college students in his dangerous plan - and thirty years after that, in the present day, the former college kids, now all grown up, are drawn back into danger as the still-missing art tempts a deadly new generation of treasure hunters. CONDITION: UNREAD c. 1961 The World Publishing Company large hardcover (decorated boards) & dust jacket (in mylar cover), first edition, assumed 2nd printing. The book has problems, but IS unread and the interior is clean and tight. The problem is with the corners and edges of the boards (see or send for the scans) and with the dust jacket which has extreme edge wear top and bottom spine and at corners and is covered in mylar cover to prevent further erosion. I have done some small cosmetic work on the bottom edges of the boards, but it's strictly cosmetic and the corners are frayed. Questions encouraged and answered. Hutchi. 1st Edition Printing Unknown. Hardcover. New/As New. Ivan Chermayeff. CONDITION: UNREAD, tight and crisp, 1980 Hutchinson & Co (UK) large hardcover (decorated gray boards) & dust jacket (in mylar cover if I can find one large enough), first edition. Powerful and bold colored pages with the text on the opposing page - white font on black pages. Problem: due to it's size and shelving it, there is some light edge wear to the DJ top edge. CONTENT: This book is an experiment in making music for the eye rather than the ear. Ivan Chermayeff made the ilustrations first, without saying what they meant. Then Kurt Vonnegut wrote words to fit the images he saw. This is a song then, whose music came first. A simple hymn for printing press. Others may find it entertaining to put their own words to Chermayeff's tune. A most unusual book. This is a real departure from what we usually expect from the late Mr. Vonnegut.
