"In the scene presented here, an older Kane is shown with his second wife Susan Alexander Kane, played by Dorothy Comingore, who assembles a jigsaw puzzle in a vast room at Kane's palatial mansion, Xanadu. The puzzle is symbol of the loneliness in their marriage and the scene predicts Kane's demise.
