Northfield, ME, September 30, 1908. White lined printed paper, Very good. 1 page, 26.5 x 20.5. This letter to Mr. Seth Gray in Marion, ME is handwritten from M.W. Doten on his professional stationary, which reads "Agent for the Tubular Cream Separators". He is advising on a bill for $4.95 for fertilizer, he will come to collect in the next week. On the back of the letter there is a small calculation of the price and a note saying "Receipt from M.W. Doten." Letterhead also states Dolen is a agent for Bradley Fertilizer. One 0.5 cm hole along the creases of the letter.

Culver City, CA: Columbia Pictures, 1943. Wraps. [title], [1] -117 pages. Copy belonging to Marguerite Chapman, who played Pamela, with her character's name on the front wrapper in holograph pencil. One of a number of comedies made during World War II that built around the "servant shortage" in the US during wartime, this one with a bit of "The man Who Came to Dinner" mixed in. An English author visits a small town in New England and inflames the local population by trying to take away a noted chef, who serves a Daughter of the American Revolution, and in turn rekindles hostilities in British-American relations. Set in New England. Green titled wrappers, noted as Final Draft on the front wrapper, rubber-stamped and production No. 195, dated April 6, 1943. Title pate present, dated April 6, 1943, noted as Final Script. 118 leaves, with last leaf of text numbered 117. Mimeograph. Pages Very Good plus, wrapper Very Good bound with two gold brads. Unique handmade cook book fashioned from a lined, tabbed, loose leaf binder, covered with heavy waxed wallpaper or waxed cloth. Alice has both typed the various recipes along with her hand written recipes. It appears Alice may have gone back and typed up some of the recipes she had written, but not all. Recipes include puddings, pickles, jams & jellies, cookies & cakes, breads, two seafood recipes (deviled scallops & creamed halibut) and two meat recipes (ham croquettes & meat loaf). Recipes for two cocktails (Bronx & dry martini) and Punch. One title stands out: cry babies - a spice cookies. Alice attributes the Piccalilli recipe to herself. Alice also adds one receipt for soap and three homemade remedies. Water stained a lower edges, some pages loose. Original binding split but holding due to the homemade cover.

A massive butcher presides in front of his stall, pointing out the benefits of a gargantuan joint of beef. His clientele, dressed in ostentatious costume look on as he points of the merits of his wares: "There is not such dignified Beef in the Market - believe me Right Honorable every Inch of it; Coronets marked in the fat and Genealogy in the lean - had it pon Honor - from my Lord cram Bullock, - delicious! - you may smell the Oil Cake a mile - no vulgar ingredients - only half a Crown per pound - a mere trifle - I have indeed some low bred beef at Sixpence but I am sue Sir it would not suit your refined Taste."
