Looks to be a third printing of the USA edition with a numberline that reads: 13 12 11 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3. On the inside of the front cover there is an ex-libris book plate designed by BB. Included are four photographs of BB - see image. Scarce title featuring two young boys who are trying to catch the Whooper, a huge carp.

The sight of Britannia 70004 roaring through Burton-on-Trent one summer afternoon in the mid-sixties would have provided a suitable baptism for any youngster on their first trainspotting jaunt. For Nicholas Whittaker it was the beginning of a thirty-year love affair with the railways. Uncommon signature.

Signed, dated (17th March 2005), first-lined (Schlaak, the pickaxe hit the wall of earth) and doodled by Gordon and Williams on the half title page (the doodle is on the dedication page). Includes bookmark and postcard, both double signed. The middle section of the book has a number of illustrations on glossy paper/No DJ as issued.

Number 82 of 300 hardcover copies printed, signed by Williams and illustrator Michael Marshall Smith on the Limitation page. The book is in very good condition (black cloth boards with gold lettering to spine) with light rubbing and creasing to the top and bottom of the spine. The dust jacket, which is not price clipped, is in good+ condition with creasing (and some light rubbing) to the top of the front and back covers, inner flaps and top and bottom of the spine, with rubbing to the corners of both covers.
