The book is in three main parts, the first part, an introduction,to Caedmon and each of his five poems (62pp.). the second part the poems in English translation (173pp), the third part, the drawings in the Junius MS with a preface by Charles R Morey (18pp) and facsimiles of the manuscript illustrations (45pp) plus an 8pp bibliography. Caedmon's poems are mentioned by Bede and were probably written between 658 and 680 when Caedmon was at Whitby monastery. Faded spine, one corner bumped.

Scale is 3 inches ti 1 mile, map is in black, red and green, size of folded map is approx. 6.5 by 4.5 inches. Map is cased in a maroon cloth binding with a "Summsry of the (footpaths) Law" pasted inside the front board. Condition of the map is vg,condition of the casing is g with fading of the spine and front board which also has a thin black mark. Ex-library. with a single stamp mark on back surface of the map.

Introduction by D C Browning which explains that the metr of "Hiawatha" is from a Finnish Collection of poems studied earlier by Longfellow. DW has been repaired.
