The 'Charles Eaton' sailed from London in 1833 and underway struck a reef at the entrance of the Torres Strait and was wrecked. The fate of the passengers and crew was unknown until Captain Lewis of 'Isabella' found the survivors, John Ireland and William D'Oyly, on Murray's Island.
