Xiong Guoying is president of the Chinese Pictographic Art Research Association and a scholar of ancient Chinese writing. His dictionary creates modern pictographic calligraphy out of the oldest examples of each character, explains their appearances in bone script, seal script, bronzes, and so on, while also "correcting inaccuracies" in the change to the modern characters.
