Description:
Yen, Shih. It happened at Willow Castle. Cultural Press. The Peoples republic of China. 1951. Softcover. Small 8vo 130mm x 175mm. Pp71. Age tone to cover and page edges, otherwise clean and bright throughout. "While in billet in a village a member of the People's Liberation Army became emotionally involved with a girl. He couldn't marry her as this was against the wartime army regulations. And in principle he was not supposed to become too friendly with the daughter of an old fashioned peasant, who always kept an eye on the conduct of the average soldier. Just how he managed to get out of this dilemma is the themewhich this plain story proposes to elucidate. The author is (at present) a cultural worker in the army. This first story, based on actual expereince, has earned him the reputation as one of the best writers about army life." Scarce.
