Philadelphia, PA: John Bioren, 1819. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original full leather binding with red and black labels to spine. Exterior shows soiling and staining in leather is torn and frayed. Interior binding is good, no hinge issues found, nothing torn or loose. Pages are toned due to age and scattered foxing and spotting is present though the worst is on the end pages and pastedowns. Front end page has a stamp in the upper right corner from a Pittsburgh Law Bookseller. Front pastedown has the signature of the original owner in the center and then to small letters written in red pencil along the top edge. No other handwriting found, no library markings present. This is the original publication and not a reprint. This is also only volume four (Vol. IV) and was published in 1819.

Remnants of leather labels on spine as well. This is not the original exterior appears to be a late 19th century rebinding. Exterior is soiled stained but corners are sharp. Internal binding is good except for some minor hinge splits and text pages are tight. The front pastedown contains a name stamp of one of the attorneys who owned the book. There is also a small label from the Law publisher in the corner. Pages are tone due to age and foxing and spotting is present throughout. The only other handwriting found in the book is on the title page where the original owner (attorney) signed his name in the top right corner. The signature belongs to Charles Pleasants (1807-1865). Gift inscription on front end page as well as residue of a price penciled in the corner. No other handwriting noted. Binding good with no hinge cracks, torn or loose pages. Top edge gilt. Book shows foxing throughout with the worst being on the end pages. Outside edges also spotted by foxing. Some of the index pages are still uncut. See photos.

Exterior shows spotting and soiling along with edge and corner bumps, edges are also darkened. Interior binding is very good, no hinge issues, nothing torn or loose. No signatures or bookplates. Only handwriting found in book is on the title page where there is very faint evidence of a price once penciled in the corner.

Hardcover with dust jacket that still has the original price of $4.95 on the front flap. DJ shows toning and scuffing with some edge wear and fractional tears. Light brown cloth boards underneath or clean except for some spotting near the rear hinge area, edges and corners of the boards show some bumping as well. The internal binding is good and the pages are tight like the book was never read. There are no signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no remainder marks, nothing torn or loose. The only handwriting found in the book is at the top of the front end page where a number 2 is written in circled in red pen. George Edward Spring (October 27, 1859 in Franklinville, Cattaraugus County, New York - January 25, 1917) was an American lawyer and politician from New York. He was the son of Judge Samuel Stowell Spring (1823-1875) and Ellen (Hogg) Spring (1827-1897). He was admitted to the bar in 1884, and practiced in Franklinville. He married Rena F. Allen (1861-1943), a daughter of Assemblyman Andrew L. Allen. Their son was Harold Allen Spring (1890-1986). Spring was a member of the New York State Senate (51st D.) from 1915 until his death, sitting in the 138th and 139th New York State Legislatures. In November 1916, he was re-elected, but was already lying ill in Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. He did not attend the session of the 140th New York State Legislature, and died less than a month into his second term, on January 25, 1917. Exterior shows edge and corner wear and leather on rear board has a small scrape about 2 inches down from the top. The front and rear end pages show advertisements from the publisher. Second end page has a signature in pencil, presumably the original owner. No other handwriting found in book. Pages are toned due to age and scattered spotting and foxing is present. No binding issues, no torn or loose pages.

New York: M. Young, Publisher, 1882. Hardcover. Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, brown cloth boards with gilt on front. Exterior shows quite a bit of fading and soiling along with sunning to spine and edge bumps. Internal binding is good. Pages are toned due to age and foxing is present throughout. Orange end pages and front and rear are free of any handwriting, signatures or bookplates. This book actually contains three different titles - the first being "600 Ways to Get Rich When Your Pockets are Empty" (94 pp.), next numbered section is entitled "The Horse" (98 pp.) and the last numbered section is entitled "The Toilet" (115 pp.). The small section of the interior pages are bound slightly offset and seen in the photo of the exterior page edges.

Phil: Philadelphia Museum of Art, 1971. 2nd Printing. Soft cover. Good+. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. See photos for condition details. Tall softcover, textured card stock wraps shows soiling and handling wear, edges are curling and spine has a thin crack just after the "Y" in Calligraphy. This thin crack does not appear to be from misuse and may just be a binding issue in a strictly cosmetic. Internal binding is good and text pages are tight. No signatures or bookplates, no remainder marks or library markings. Only evidence of handwriting found in the book is on the front end page where there is faint residue in the upper corner where a previous price and cold was penciled.

China: Kaiming Book Company, Limited, 1930. Soft cover. Fair. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Softcover, original publication with plain white exterior. Wraps are yellowed and spotted with age soiling and have several large damp spots. Dampstains are also present on some interior pages, though mainly limited to the pages closes to the outside wraps and are near the gutter areas. Edges and corners are also reinforced with small pieces of tape. Front cover has unknown signature in center and the title page also has signature and a stamped name seal. Last text page also shows a signature written in English. Pages are yellowed and soiled due to usage and age. Upon inspection there were a couple pages that had underlining and/or notes, though these are just some scattered throughout the book, and are likely less than a dozen pages total. No publication date listed only date found was on the preface which listed May 26, 1930.
