The spine has "V" for the volume 3 which is in error. There are only three volumes stated for this 1843 edition. Several blank pages bound in the text. Some of these pages have early bird watcher notes written in fine hand. Previous owner inscription written top of the title page. Volume 3 only.

Old ink inscription at top of title page - "James Tallmadge Jun 1802." J. Tallmadge name stamped on front advertisement page. Tallmadge practiced law in New York in the early 1800's. He served in the War of 1812. Later, he became an United States Lawyer and defended Andrew Jackson's actions during the Seminole Indian War. Tallmadge also was a member of the United States House of Representatives. He continued to practice law in New York later in his career.
