FIRST EDITION 1977, 4to, 285 x 220 mm, 11 x 8¾ inches, colour illustrated glazed boards, blue patterned endpapers, (32) pages. 13 excellent full page dark dramatic coloured illustrations for Adams' 26 octavos of violence on the Spanish Main, based on a couple of lines about a ship's cat in Hakluyt. FIRST EDITION (1941) dated from catalogue at rear, IN DUSTWRAPPER with both flaps plain, no printed price. 180 x 115 mm, 7 x 4½ inches, 25 full page coloured illustrations, a few blue vignettes in the text, no pagination, (55) pages plus 2 page catalogue, pale blue boards with blue lettering and illustration to upper cover, pictorial patterned endpapers showing Wonk the little Koala. No inscriptions, minute bump to lower corners of boards, 60 mm (2½") closed tear to foot of centre fold of 1 page, contents bright and clean. A very good plus copy in G+ DUSTWRAPPER (dw: slightly worn at head and tail of spine and corners with small chips, maximum 5 mm (¼"), 30 mm (1¼") closed tear at foot of upper hinge).
