Norman Lockyer (1836-1920) and Frances Cranmer Penrose (1817-1903) acccurately predict the date of Stonehenge (1680 BC) by measuring the difference between its orientation and the direction of sunrise at the summer solstice (1 degree and 12 arc seconds) and calculating how many years ago this would have been given changes in the Earth's rotation. Carbon dating now has it at 1848 BC. Also contains numerous papers by Karl Pearson on intelligence. vii, [1], 501 pp. 8vo. Blue cloth spine and corners with marbled paper insets to covers. The Abraham Lincoln Center was started by Wright, but finished by Dwight Heald Perkins after Wright's falling out with his uncle and patron, Jenkin Lloyd Jones, over design details. 4to. Unique in this large of a run. 147 issues, missing #5, 133, 140, & 144. Issues progressed over time from stapled 8vo size to its fourth size iteration in 1999 as a standard magazine 4to. This run of 147 issues is in Very Good to Fine condition overall with a few tears to issues here and there are losses to the front of issue #56 and rear of issue #57, as well as the front of that same issue and rear of issue #58 where they stuck together in storage. Issue #151 has a permanent "Courtesy of..." sticker on the front cover. Interiors clean and crisp. Will require additional postage due to weight of set.

Printed in a limited edition of 1,675 copies, this copy is inscribed by Armitage on the dedication page in his bold, distinct blue ink, "To Gordon/That good collaborator!/from his friend/Merle/1955" First Printing. 403 pp. 8vo. Bright red dust jacket with significant fading, small chips and tears, tape repairs on verso, now in mylar cover. Blue cloth boards with dust jacket replicated in red on cover board and spine, slight scuffing. Red endpapers with Armitage's "MA" monogram printed on the front pastedown, "E W" on rear pastedown with a drawing compass assumed to be the symbol of E. Weyhe.
