With 26 folding engraved plates. ¶ Bierens de Haan 4400. - Only edition of this uncommon work on the constructions of sundials. The author taught mathematics and astronomy at the Amsterdam Athenaeum. Fine copy of a work that rarely appears on the market. A number of leaves have annotations in the outer margin in a fine contemporary handwriting.

The first volume is in the 4th, completely revised and enlarged, edition, the second volume in the first edition.

Young, the foremost expert on the history of medical frauds, find quackery in the 1990s to be more extensive and insidious than in the earlier and allegedly more naive areas. "A masterful case history of the complexity of achieving early social welfare legislation..."(Glenn Sonnedecker). Finely printed from the Linotron Galliard type on acid-free paper. Nice copy with author's autograph dedication.

Over 300 drawings by Richer. ¶ Copy with ample margins. The work is divided into 2 parts (anatomy & morphology). One of the most impressive works of Richer, artist at "la Salpêtrière" put the study of medicine in relation to art upon a sound footing. "The Viennese professor Stoll used Borhaave's Aphorisms on febrile diseases for his lectures. He adapted Boerhaave's text to newer views and insights"(Lindeboom). The first edition of this Mahon translation was published in 1801, the last edition in 1837. (Cette oeuvre est inspirée des "Aphorismes" de Boerhaave. D'après le "Dictionnaire de Dezeimeris", Corvisart aurait également traduit ce texte. Trad. de : "Aphorismi de cognoscendis et curandis febribus").-- First 60 pages have a light clear waterstain in the upper inner marging, but a fine copy in its pure state.
