This book had its beginnings and was inspired by the great collection of of material from the estate of Dorothy Gaston who was Archibald Rutledge's personal secretary for many years. The author, Dorothy Stone Harmon, assembled the poems, letters, books, and photos to create a biographical profile of Archibald Rutledge, his life and his literary accomplishments. As an added bonus, when you purchase this book from me, I will include a COPY of my original photograph that appears in the front end pages, entitled, "The Rutledges at home." My photo was taken at Hampton in May 1967. It is probably, as far as we know, the last photo of Archibald and Alice taken together at Hampton while they were in good health. Within weeks after this photo was taken, Archibald broke his hip and the following year 1968 Alice passed away in Spartanburg, SC at the family home on Alabama street.
