Description:
First edition, "A", 1998, softcover. This modest paperback is difficult to find 1st edition and easily confused with later printings. This copy is complete and has been well read. There is a 3/4 inch tear to lower spine and a stain on the rear cover. What makes this collectible is that it is a true 1998 first edition preceding the much more common 1999 hardcover edition. Now in protective wraps. WorldCat (40847135) lists only 16 copies of the 1998 edition. Please see the scans of the book you will receive. ISBN: 0307988791. Hardcover, Boston, circa 1876. Likely second edition (see notes below). Condition is Good: original cloth boards show moderate general wear, some fraying to corners and spine ends. Binding is functional, book lays open. No interior writing of any kind. A few smudges and some foxing is present. The plates, personal anecdotes and observations are major attractions of this book. He was fortunate to meet and befriend Cochise early in his travels. See Howes C843; Rader 950; Graff 898. Please see images of the book you will receive. Notes: Although not stated this is likely second edition. Has copyright date of 1876, ads are for books published in 1877 or earlier. Description:
Article extracted from Proceedings of Royal Geographical Society and bound in card covers. 22 pages in fine condition. I think the first page of the article is a high quality reproduction. Lecture by Greely touches upon his Arctic exploration begun in 1881. He mentions the Franklin rescue efforts. Author also discusses the dangers of Arctic work and his personal experience. "We suffered about as much discomfort as I have suffered in my life in a given amount of time." They were trapped with one month of provisions at the onset of 7-8 months of winter. Description:
First edition bound in vellum. Munich, 1647. Condition is Good. Primary condition issue is missing spine. Text block binding remains sound. Vellum boards with Yapp style fore-edges and typical vellum warp. Interior has modern stamp (R151) on interior front pastedown, ffep with pencil notation and older ink info, title page with old library stamp, prior ownership inscription dated 1699, half title has pencil note at bottom. No other interior markings or problems. Quite decent old paper remains supple. Paginates: [24], map, 480, [12] with original blanks. This is a small format book (12 mo) approximately 12.5 x 7 cm. See Alden European American 647/28. A cool old book with a 17th century map of the Americas. Please see images of the book you will receive. Feel free to inquire. Notes: Alden states this is historical fiction based on Gobeo's shipwreck narrative of 1610 (EA 610/115). It does not read like that to me (I observe and make no claim to authority). This is a description of Central and South…

Description:
First edition, first printing, hardcover with dust jacket in archival cover. Classic western fiction in fabulous dust jacket. DJ is price clipped; dj has ancient paper backing. I rate the dj as only fair due to accumulated wear not major damage. Minor chips to head of spine, price clipped, flaps reinforced now protected in archival cover. Interior has new endpapers, occasional foxing but no other markings, folds, signatures, vandalism or other problems. External board hinges have dark stains. I have seen several copies of this book with the same issue and I think it is due to the black ink from the dust jacket leaking through. Please see scans of the book you will receive. Feel free to ask questions. Notes: not to be confused with book of the same name by authors Donalds or Shirreffs published in 1956.
