An early title from the Centaur Press in San Francisco in their first year of publication as well as an early work by Broughton designed, set by hand, and printed by Kermit Sheets who has SIGNED the colophon page. Also SIGNED by the author on the copyright page and additionally SIGNED and INSCRIBED by him on the front endpaper to another poet: "for Douglas [Newton]/madly, with true love/James/18 Oct. 52." Laid in is a greeting card poem by Broughton and Suzanna Hart titled "Nuptiae: Wedding Song" printed in two colors by the Panpipes Press in Mendocino.

Illustrated by Gentleman with 55 miniature line drawings accompanying the text and 8 full-page plates reproduced as auto-lithographs in 8 printings at the Curwen Studio in London. Copy #457 of 1600 SIGNED by the artist on the colophon page. Monthly Letter laid in.

This copy is also INSCRIBED and SIGNED on the front endpaper by one of the printers to the founder of The Typography Studio, Gilbert Griffin: "Here is a fine example/of the typographic tradition/you began at Princeton."

This chapbook consists of selections removed by the author at the publisher's request from his not yet then published novel SUMMER OF NIGHT.

Of a total of 1500 copies SIGNED by the artist on the colophon page, this copy is not numbered (in place of the number is written in ink "Office Copy") and bears the Club's blindstamp stating it is one of 15 presentation copies. Laid in is the proof of one of the pages with a penciled comment in the upper corner in an unidentified hand about the page's appearance.
