Published by Navigation and Direction Dovision of the Admiralty, this book replaces the 1953 edition. It has 226 pages and a large number of illustrations in the text together with some photographic plates. It is now EXTREMELY RARE with none available from the usual sources. I find no copies for sale- not anywhere-not for years. In fact however far I go back. And no copies in libraries. No trace in Worldcat. No trace on any data base, not Bookfinder, not ViaLibri, not Addall. It succeeded B.R. 1853 dated 1953, and i find no trace of that anywhere It is hard bound and grades no better than GOOD although it is all there and solid. It is from a collection held by an RCN officer, and this is the second ultra-rare book I have found in the collection. Ray Society (Series). The Ray society.. FIRST EDITION FIRST PRINTING. On front is the white call number you see. It is repeated at bottom of spine. Corners are bumped/ribbed and top of spine has small nick, but overall appearance is very bright with the fresh-looking gilt insignia and the incuse decoration. The back is even better. Because this book is from a museum, it does NOT have the usual pocket etc. It has a museum library sticker inside back board and on what would in modern day be the copyright page, it has an elliptical blue library stamp and manuscript call number. It all seems so tight and the pages so fine-looking that I suspect it was never read

From the stacks (non-circulating) of a library, published as a soft cover and later rebound in this hard cover by the library because of its historical importance toi British Columbia. The sub-title is "The Story of Walter Moberly and his share in the making of Vancouver," and the authors are stated to be Noel Robinson and "THE OLD MAN HIMSELF." Walter Moberly (1832–1915) was a civil engineer and surveyor who played a large role in the early exploration and development of British Columbia, including discovering Eagle Pass, now used by the CPR and the trans-Canada highway. Full title: Brown's Rule of the Road Manual for Candidates Preparing for B.O.T. examinations. Includes coloured dagrams. Diagrams of buoys and beacons etc. Jutsum wrote a number of books published by the Nautical Press and for a while edited Brown's Rule of the Road. He died in 1916. This book has no date stated, but the ads at back are dated 1920. I checked with James Brown and Son, but their records do not go back that far. The book is described as a new edition and cannot be a first. Nevertheles it is older than any copy around. It has only 97 pages plus ads. Subsequent edition had a lot more pages
