First Edition of the Constance Garnett translation, and the first edition translated into English directly from the Russian. (The 1886 translation, published by Vizetelly in England and Crowell in the US, was actually a translation of a French translation.) This copy is in extraordinary condition; with the exception of some minor dust soiling on the top page edges, this copy is in truly fine condition, unread, no ownership markings, cloth unfaded, gilt bright and shining as the day it was published. Possibly because of the earlier translation, this issue seems to be considerably more scarce than other volumes in the series.
