The front board is just a tiny bit warped, and the corners of the covers are ever so slightly rubbed. The price-clipped dust jacket is in good only condition with a large open tear in the top edge of the rear panel that measures 1 inch wide by 1 and 1/4 inches deep. The edges have numerous short and long closed tears as well. The longest closed tear measures 3 inches long. There are 4 pieces of tape backing the tears along the top edge. Photography by Ernst Haas. A journey in book form through southern Arizona and northern Mexico, guided by former park ranger and desert rat, Edward Abbey.

Map endsheets. Remainder mark to foot of the text block. The rear board is a little warped and the edges of the boards are subtly faded. In the dust jacket, with rubbing to the surface, and two small tears to the edges, backed with tape. Reisner's seminal work on water use in the American West is even more relevant and compelling today, when the Colorado River no longer reaches the ocean, and crucial water supplies like groundwater are both dwindling and mostly unregulated.
