London & NY: George Routledge & Sons, (1882).. Small folio (10 x 13 inches). Pictorial boards. 64pp. Illustrations include fifteen chromolithographic plates by Robert Talbot Kelly, four of which are double-page. A complete, but somewhat worn copy with some loss to the front cover illustration (the elephant), wear to tips and lower spine, tears to the margins of several plates (a couple of which affect color plates), and one plate which has stuck to the adjacent page, damaging both pages. The inner front hinge shows wear as well. The majority of the color plates are in nice shape. Striking images. Very scarce.

A Cabinet Card / Cabinet Photograph of poet Richard Hovey, ca. 1890s. This is a photo of Hovey mounted on a stiff card measuring 4.25 x 6.5 inches. Photographer is M.J. Steffens, Chicago. Small stain to lower corner, not affecting image, very good condition. Written in pen on the reverse, in an unknown hand: "Richard Hovey the poet." Hovey was a romantic poet of the late 19th century, who collaborated with Bliss Carman. He appears in this photo in a decorative doorway. Hovey, who fancied himself an American Oscar Wilde, was a lecturer on aesthetics, and an English professor.
