Tokyo, Yoshikawa Hanshichi, Meiji 34 [1901]. 4 plate volumes, orihon folding albums illustrated with 154 pages of color woodcut. 25.1 x 18.5 cm Complete as such BUT not including the 4 text volumes. A lovely compendium of traditional design. Very good colors, impression and condition. Volume 4 is split at one fold; its rear cover is detached, and its front cover attached with a tissue repair.

1928. [JAPANESE POSTER] Asahi Shimbunsha. DAICHOWA-TEN. 60.8 X 42.5 cm. An attractive prewar poster from 1928, that shows a lovely nude from behind, advertising a painting exhibition held at the Asahi newspaper building. Very good condition, subtle coloring, bright and clean.

1648. [PHOTOGRAPHY - JAPANESE] Moriyama DAIDO^. DAIDO hysteric no.6 1994. Tokyo, hysteric glamour, 1993. Large square folio, illustrated wrappers, 177 images (many double page) over 360 pages. Limited edition. This copy has a bit of mild creasing marks to the covers but overall in very good condition. Remarkable work in black and white - dark, grainy and ominous - certainly not a tourist's brochure view of Japan. Daido is among the most important of Japan's contemporary photographers. Hysteric Glamour, the publishers, have produced a seminal series of monographs all through the 90's and to the present day, capturing the essence of the latest trends in Japanese photography and presenting them with great sympathy and skill.

The volumes average between 600 and 900 pages, each. The covers are rubbed, the contents very good. 5 vols.:.

1930. [PREWAR ARCHITECTURE]. DAI-ICHI GINKO. Tokyo: Showa 5 [1930]. Western-style binding in wrappers. Includes 9 tipped-in photos of the new Dai-Ichi Bank building in Tokyo. There are 17 plates as well, and text describing the history of the bank. In addition, there is a small wrappered pamphlet describing the new building, itself, with floor plans, etc. and a laid-in photo of the building. Some foxing and a few of the tipped in photos have edgewear. Overall good condition.

[ART DECO] Morinaga. DAISANKAI MORINAGA KYARAMERU GEIJUTSU-SHO^. n.p. [To^kyo^ c.1930]. A heavy bronze plaque, 22.0 x 21.0 cm, a bas-relief image of a man mounted on a winged horse. The plaque itself is mounted on a hardwood plank 42.1 x 35.5 cm. This momento of a "Prize for the Third Morinaga Caramel Exhibit of the Arts" was most probably awarded in the late 1920s or early 30s. It is signed but the signature is unread. The bronze plaque is in very good condition.

1864. CLARK, Edward L. DALETH or the HOMESTEAD OF THE NATIONS. Egypt Illustrated (in black and white and coloured plates). Boston: Ticknor and Fields, 1864. Crown 8vo., green cloth lettered and designed in gilt with blind stamp to lower board; t.e.g. Boards are rubbed with some minor soiling. Crown has a chip which effects a small part of the top-edge of text and a little surface tear to lower board. One signature pulling from the text slightly. This is still an attractive copy.

1966. GLAZE, Andrew. DAMNED UGLY CHILDREN. New York: Trident, 1966. First edition, inscribed for Ted Morrison. 8vo, patterned paper-covered, black cloth-backed boards. Touch of spotting to boards, foxing to edges. Near fine, in a lightly edgeworn and soiled dust jacket.

1970. PIERCY, MARGE. DANCE THE EAGLE TO SLEEP. Advance Review or Proof copy, stapled yellow wrappers, oblong, front wrapper printed in black with title and illustration, a totemic figure. Undated. 232 pages laid out on 116 pages, two columns (pages) on each side. Originally publised in 1970 by Doubleday, the second novel by the feminist poet, novelist, memoirist, and activist. This copy has no publisher information. It is signed by the author on the verso of the front wrapper. Wrappers toned, some creasing. Piercy's second novel, speculative fiction about youth in a dystopian near future society, in rebellion. Scarce format, good condition. $150.00.

Slightly darkened at spine, and foxed at top-edge of bookblock, but near fine overall. In a matching dust jacket which is sunned at spine, and foxed at top-edge of fold-ins, but near fine as well.

Eight original paper-wrappered books here bound in four volumes, with each volume consisting of two books. Crown octavos, the books bound with the original blue-gray wrappers and ads in contemporary half black leather with red marbled paper-covered boards, spines in gilt, t.e.g. Without erratum in book three. Four of the front wrappers bear the signature of J. Dykes Campbell, the 19th century editor and critic. Foxing at endpapers, slight rubbing and nicking at spines, edges. This set is very good.

A very good, clean copy, which is lightly foxed to top and fore edges; in wrappers, printed with a cover photograph of the authors and the release date of 27 June 1938, which show moderate overall soil and a couple of spots to the front panel. A scarce title in a scarce format.
