Bradbury rewrote and revised about half of the stories for The October Country and the original versions of his early work remained out of print until this limited edition reissue. For this edition, edited by Donn Albright, spelling errors were corrected, but the text was kept intact. In addition, four other stories from the same era have been added. Each story is prefaced by a reproduction of the magazine cover where it originally appeared. At the back of the book are 53 pages of facsimiles of letters and typescripts related to Dark Carnival, all of which are published here for the first time. This edition also includes a history of Dark Carnival by Jon Eller, an introduction by Bradbury, and an afterword by Clive Barker. The book is accompanied by a CD of interviews with Bradbury and a chapbook story, Time Intervening, issued… Read More

Description:
Philadelphia: J. B. Lippincott, 1970. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good/Very good. The hardcover version of the 7th Travis McGee novel, "the most difficult of all [Lippincott's] McGees to find" (Firsts Magazine, Nov. 2002). The novel was first published in paperback in 1966 and then in hardcover in the UK in 1967; this is the first American hardcover edition. First edition (first printing, with no indication of later printing). Mild spine lean; large Marine Barracks stamp on the front pastedown, thus very good in a spine-faded dust jacket with a number of tears and snags. The jacket is the first printing jacket, priced at $4.95 with the 470 code at the top of the front flap. A decent copy of a book that is hard to find in nice condition.
