Written by Dr. Francis Watson, a urologist, the play was performed at the Tavern Club in Boston on February 19, 1902. The cast was packed with Boston area physicians, many of who are remembered today for their prominent rolls in medicine. Dr. Harvey Cushing (1869-1939), father of modern neurosurgeon and author, played four of the roles. He won a Pulitzer Prize in 1926 for his biography of William Osler, M.D. Also a players, was Dr. Samuel Langmaid, one of the four founding fathers of Children's Hospital Boston.

A version of one of the Brothers Grimm's fairy tales first published in Germany in 1815, and quickly adopted into Bohemian culture. Vojt ch Kubašta (1914-1992) was a paper engineer and artist who was born in Vienna but moved with his family to Prague in 1918. Educated as an architect and civil engineer, his love was illustration and book design. Under Communism, the publishing industry was nationalized and Kubašta found work in advertising Czech products abroad. Artia, the Prague-based Czech national publishing company, published Little Red Riding Hood, his first pop-up children's book in 1956.
