Late Victorian-era stereoview showing a large date tree and with two captions: "For a vivid description of St. Augustine, read Bloomfield's Historical Guide" [and] "Florida, the Land of Flower and Tropical Scenery." (Bloomfield's Illustrated Historical Guide, Embracing an Account of the Antiquities of St. Augustine, Florida... was first published in 1882.) The date palm is a major agricultural crop in Florida, and the state is one of the largest producers of dates in the United States.

Other poets include Janet Brown, t.l. kryss, Kent Taylor, Mike Trudeau, Karen Waring, and Doug Blazek. The work also reprints letters by Blazek to poets Charles Bukowski and Joel Deutsch.

Boston: Little, Brown, and Company, 1903. 36pp. 9¼ x 6 inches. Printed wrappers with some soil and browning; else very good. Sole edition. Predecessor to a landmark Antitrust decision. In 1902, President Roosevelt ordered Attorney General Philander C. Knox to challenge the merger between Northern Pacific Railway and Great Northern Railway companies. Roosevelt believed that the merger violated the Sherman Antitrust Act of 1890 and raised problems of restraint of trade, interstate commerce, monopolies, and fair competition. Here in 1903, and acting as defense attorney, John Larkin Thorndike (1844-1920) argued that Northern Securities Co., a holding company that owned shares in the competing railroads, never "used its power to suppress competition, or that it threatened or intended, or claimed the right, so to use it." "The Coffee roasted by the PATENT NEW PROCESS retains All the AROMA and strength, and in avoiding contact with fire and smoke, the Coffee is preserved in its purity and possesses a delicacy of flavor that is unknown to Coffee roasted in the common way by other manufacturers, all of whom roast their Coffee in perforated cylinders revolving over fires of coal, coke or natural gas....rendering it INJURIOUS To Health." Union Coffee Co. sold its specially prepared "Alaroma" and "Bunola" brand coffee beans in one pound packages: "These brands are self-clarifying, as each bean is hermetically sealed with the exact proportion of the beaten white of eggs and granulated sugar necessary to settle the Coffee." Description of American painter Washington Allston's masterpiece, Belshazzar's Feast, a monumental 12 x 16-foot historical painting begun in 1817 and left unfinished at his death in 1843. The painting was posthumously exhibited at Boston's Corinthian Gallery. The description is accompanied by the complete Biblical text that inspired the painting (Daniel 5: 1-31) and an account of the painting's restoration. The "Fifth Edition" statement is likely spurious.
