IN THE LETTER THE FEMALE VOICE IS PROPOSED AS IRENE WORTH BUT IN THE EVENT WAS PLAYED BY PEGGY ASHCROFT. THE LETTER IS DATED DECEMBER 1971;THE FINISHED RECORDING WAS RELEASED ON THE ARGO LABEL IN 1972. IT IS LIKELY THAT THIS COPY WAS SENT TO SCOFIELD TO FAMILIARISE HIM WITH THE TEXTS, BUT LESS LIKELY THAT IT WAS USED IN THE RECORDING SINCE IT REMAINS UNANNOTATED.
